Book Suggestions
Suggest books for our To Be Read List via our contact page or Instagram direct message. Access the list through the link below.
The Democratic Process
For each meeting, one book from each genre on the To Be Read list will be selected, and a poll will be posted on Instagram for members to vote on their favourite. The book receiving the most votes will become our monthly pick and will be officially announced. To give everyone plenty of time to find a copy and read at their own pace, selections will be announced two months ahead of each meeting.
Meetings
Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at Somewhere Here Co., located at The Birches, 6 Coates Cr., Beechworth. See the events page for specific events.
Book Club Guidelines
All Voices Matter
Some people find it easier to speak before a group than others, so let us always endeavour to create a space where everyone feels confident sharing their thoughts, opinions, and experiences. We do this by:

Engaging in active listening

Avoiding dominating conversation

Being thoughtful about how we respond to others’ input to the conversation
Strength in Diverse Opinions
Seeing life through the stories of another is the joy of literature. Likewise, hearing from others about the diverse ways in which they might relate to a book is an important and rewarding part of this community.
Keep in mind that we won’t always agree with everyone, and that’s okay as long as we contribute and respond with respect and thoughtfulness.
Judgement-Free Community
Everyone is welcome at our book club meetings. We understand that reading time and access to books differ for each person. Whether you prefer a printed copy, an e-book, an audio book, or even if you don’t manage to finish the book before the meeting, you’ll always be included—without judgment.
